CH2M HILL Polar Services (CPS) announces its 2012 Arctic Field Training
Course Schedule. These courses are open to NSF-funded arctic
researchers, including principal investigators, graduate students,
research assistants, and undergraduate field assistants. The courses are
free of charge for all qualified researchers. CPS can only accept
attendees whose schedules allow them to attend all days of the course.

Arctic Field Training Course
This two-day course is for researchers located near the training site,
and is provided by Polar Field Services (part of the CPS team) to help
researchers prepare for fieldwork in the Arctic. The course covers cold
weather camping, survival techniques, basic first aid, working around

aviation accidents in Alaska in both small and large aircraft. Students
are exposed to land and water crash simulations to duplicate impact
conditions. It will be offered in Anchorage, Alaska on 15-16 March.

Wilderness First Aid Course
A two-day course provided by the Wilderness Medical Institute (WMI) of
NOLS. This introductory first aid course will cover a wide range of
wilderness medicine topics to help researchers prepare for unexpected
medical situations while working in the field. It is aimed at
researchers living in Alaska, and has limited space. It will be offered
in Fairbanks, Alaska on 31 March - 1 April.

Marine Safety Training
A three-day boating course provided by the Alaska Marine Safety
Education Association (AMSEA). Aimed at researchers working in or around
water, this course covers topics such as inflatable boat and motor use,
emergency signaling devices, personal flotation devices, and
hypothermia. Students spend time on and in the water during training.
The course has limited space. It will be offered in Woods Hole,
Massachusetts on 21-23 May.
