    InBev-Baillet Latour Antarctica Fellowship

The InBev-Baillet Latour Fund and the International Polar Foundation
(IPF) announce the opening of the 2011 Call for Proposals for the
InBev-Baillet Latour Antarctica Fellowship. The submission deadline is 1
March 2012.

The fellowship of 150,000 euros was created to promote research
activities to be carried out at, or in the vicinity of, the Princess
Elisabeth Antarctica research station located in the Sor Rondane
Mountain Range, Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica.

The fellowship is open to doctoral and postdoctoral researchers under
the age of 35 from any country in the world. The 2011 Call for Proposals
is restricted to the disciplines of glaciology, microbiology (excluding
marine microbiology), and geology.

  1. 2012-2013 Proposals
    Northern Contaminants Program

The Northern Contaminants Program (NCP) is currently accepting 2012-2013
proposals, for which the total program budget will be $4.8 Million. The
deadline for proposal submission is 11:59 p.m. EST, 16 January 2012.

The current focus of the NCP is to address high priority issues in
communities where people are exposed to contaminant levels of concern to
health authorities. The NCP addresses these issues through conducting
research and monitoring to enable the provision of sound dietary advice,
meeting Canada's monitoring obligations under international agreements,
and undertaking education and communications efforts in high priority
areas. Activities to be funded by the NCP fall under five subprograms:

- Human Health;
- Environmental Monitoring and Research;
- Community Based Monitoring and Knowledge Integration (new);
- Communications, Capacity, and Outreach; and
- National/Regional/International Coordination and Aboriginal
Partnerships.

    Antarctic Science International Bursary

The Antarctic Science International Bursary announces that applications
are now being accepted for 2012. The deadline for submission is 11:59
p.m. GMT on 31 March 2012.

Antarctic Science International Bursary awards are made annually in
amounts of up to 5,000 British pounds, to support the development of the
careers of promising young scientists working in any field of Antarctic
science. The purpose of the award is to broaden the scope of an existing
research project, especially for postdoctoral studies, through:

- Funding extra field or laboratory work;
- Purchasing/contributing towards the cost of a key piece of
equipment; or
- Funding international collaboration.
