Organizers of the XXXII Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research
(SCAR) Open Science Conference announce a call for abstracts. The
conference will be held 16-19 July 2012 in Portland, Oregon. Associated
meetings will be held from 13 July through 25 July.

The conference will emphasize SCAR's dual role in facilitating
scientific research and providing advice to policy makers. Plenary
sessions will focus on high-level overarching themes of interest to the
majority of attendees:

- Antarctic Conservation Challenges in a Century of Change
- Past, Present, and Future Climate Evolution
- Evolution and Biodiversity in Antarctica

The first 200 students to submit an accepted abstract will receive free

Organizers of the Workshop on the Dynamics and Mass Budget of Arctic
Glaciers, and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) Network
on Arctic Glaciology Annual, announce that the registration deadline has
been extended to Tuesday, 15 November 2011.

The purpose of the meeting is to present and discuss new results on
observations and modeling of the dynamics and mass budget of arctic
glaciers, including the Greenland ice sheet; to plan and coordinate
field work on arctic glaciers with the aim of using the available
infrastructure and logistics in the most efficient way; and to develop
ideas for future projects and collaboration.

Participation is open to everyone interested in arctic glaciology.
Contributions in the form of oral presentations or posters are welcomed;
presentations will be allocated 20 minutes (including discussion). A
poster session including short 2-3 minute introductions to posters will
be arranged. Abstracts must be submitted to Krzysztof Migala
(krzysztof.migala [at] uni.wroc.pl) no later than 2 December 2011, and should
indicate whether an oral or poster presentation is preferred.

Organizers hope to raise financial support for young scientists to
participate in the meeting. Interested early career scientists must
submit an application to Martin Sharp (martin.sharp [at] ualberta.ca) by 15
November 2011. The application should include your name, affiliation,
age, supervisor, a short (five-line) description of your research
project, and a copy of your submitted abstract.

Extended registration deadline: Tuesday, 15 November 2011.
