All National Science Foundation (NSF) proposals must now include a
supplementary document of no more than two pages labeled 'Data
Management Plan,' describing how the proposal will conform to NSF policy
on dissemination and sharing of research results.

Data management for the NSF Office of Polar Programs Arctic Sciences
(ARC) section is now being handled through the NSF-funded Advanced
Cooperative Arctic Data and Information Service (ACADIS). This includes
data from projects funded under the Arctic Observing Network (AON),
Arctic System Sciences (ARCSS), Arctic Natural Sciences (ANS), and the
Arctic Social Sciences Program (ASSP). ACADIS, a newly funded joint
effort of the National Snow and Ice Data Center, the University
Corporation for Atmospheric Research, and the National Center for
Atmospheric Research, builds from the CADIS system that has served the
AON community.

ACADIS has created a data management plan template to assist
investigators planning to submit a proposal to the 2011 general call for
ARC (proposal deadline 18 October 2011). The template can be downloaded
from the CADIS site, at: http://www.aoncadis.org/.

For further information on the NSF guidelines, please see the relevant
section of the 'Proposal Preparation Instructions,' at:
