  1. National Park Service seeks Physical Scientist
    Denali National Park, Alaska

The Central Alaska Inventory and Monitoring Network and Denali National
Park and Preserve seek applications to a Physical Scientist Position.
The position is career seasonal (may have certain periods of
non-pay/non-duty) and will be based at Denali National Park, Alaska.

The successful candidate will perform scientific studies and provide
critical knowledge related to glaciers, permafrost, hydrology, and other
resources of the park and preserve. This position provides the

management of Denali National Park and Preserve. The position manages
the physical science program and performs programmatic duties for the
park's Center for Resources, Science, and Education. It will include
working closely with the Central Alaska Inventory and Monitoring network
to implement the physical resource monitoring program, working on
specific physical science research and monitoring projects, and working

  1. Norwegian Polar Institute seeks Postdoctoral Researcher
    Geophysics
    Tromso, Norway

Norwegian Polar Institute seeks a postdoctoral researcher for a key role
in a multidisciplinary, international team which will investigate the
mass-balance history over the past millennia of the Fimbul ice shelf,
Dronning Maud Land, and decipher ice-flow dynamics of the
inter-connected system of ice rises, shelf ice, and outlet glaciers.
This position is for a fixed term of three years, with a possibility of
one-year extension, and will be based in Tromso, Norway.

The successful candidate will lead ground-based radar and GPS
measurements, and analyze/interpret these geophysical data with the aid
of radio-wave propagation and ice-flow models. Applicants should have a
PhD in geophysics or a relevant area. Field experience in glaciology is
highly desirable, but a strong background in satellite/airborne remote
sensing or ice-flow modeling will also be considered.

The application should include a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae

  1. UAA Environment and Natural Resources Institute seeks
Postdoctoral Fellow - Ecosystem/Physiological Plant Ecologist
    Anchorage, Alaska

The University of Alaska (UAA) Environment and Natural Resources
Institute seeks an ecosystem/physiological plant ecologist for a
three-year postdoctoral fellow position with field studies in northwest
Greenland. The position will be based in Anchorage, Alaska, with mid-May
to mid-September field seasons in 2012, 2013, and 2014 stationed at

Network and is focusing on measuring and monitoring vegetation and
ecosystem changes in the high Arctic using spectral systems and trace
gas measurements. The incumbent will use a 50m tram system that spans a
moisture gradient which will be fitted with a suite of downward-looking
spectral instruments and will conduct companion phenology, trace gas,
and plant ecophysiological studies. The successful applicant will be
expected to assist in supervising graduate and undergraduate students,
and in project management.

A PhD or previous postdoctoral research experience in ecosystem ecology,
