The Southwest Alaska Park Science Symposium will be held 2-4 November
2011 at the Dena'ina Center in Anchorage, Alaska. The symposium will
provide a forum to exchange information related to research and
monitoring efforts in southwest Alaska. The theme of the symposium,
'Crossing Boundaries in a Changing Environment,' emphasizes the focus on
interdisciplinary, multi-agency, multi-organization information
exchange.

Hosted by the National Park Service, the symposium is open to
scientists, resource managers, and interpreters from diverse
disciplines. The symposium agenda will include oral presentations, a
poster session, and informal opportunities for networking and
information exchange.

Oral and poster presentations will focus on freshwater ecosystems,
marine ecosystems, wildlife, physical science, vegetation, archaeology,
and emerging management issues. Jim Dixon, Director of the Maxwell
Museum of Anthropology, will deliver a keynote presentation on the
emerging research frontier of glacial archaeology.

Another announcement will be distributed when the symposium website is
live. Updates including registration instructions, the symposium
schedule, presentation titles, and a list of expected posters will be
posted on the website as available.
