The Arctic Institute of North America (AINA) seeks applications for the
position of Executive Director. The position is for a renewable term of
five years and will be based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The ideal candidate will be a leading scholar in one or more fields of
northern inquiry and/or policy development with an academic background
suitable for appointment at the rank of associate professor or
professor. Candidates must hold a PhD, and will possess the aptitude to
develop, lead, and deliver multi-disciplinary educational and research
programs. Preference will be given to candidates with strong connections
with academia, government, industry, and particularly with northern
communities and their aboriginal and non-aboriginal governments.

The successful candidate will be cross-appointed to a home department at

  1. Foundation for Glacier and Environmental Research seeks Director
    Juneau Icefield Research Program

The Foundation for Glacier and Environmental Research (FGER) seeks
applicants for a new Director for the well established Juneau Icefield
Research Program (JIRP). The position has an initial two-year term with
the potential for renewal.

The Director will promote teamwork, lead field-based undergraduate
study, and administer the expansion of research activity. Summer field
responsibilities include day-to-day management of icefield operations
while participating in the JIRP eight-week summer program. Recruitment
of students and research faculty, and participation in fundraising is
also expected.

Applicants must have a PhD; established research experience in the
glacial or arctic sciences; strength in communication, management and
organizational skills, and grant writing; and demonstrated budgetary
responsibility. The ideal candidate will be a well-established,
university-based scientist who wishes to lead a uniquely successful
program, while maintaining their existing position and university
affiliation.

  1. WCRP and NPI seeks Director
    Climate and Cryosphere International Project Office
    Tromso, Norway

The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and the Norwegian Polar
Institute (NPI) invite applications for the position of Director of the
Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) International Project Office (CIPO). The
position is based in Tromso, Norway.

The Director will work closely with the CliC governing bodies
(Scientific Steering Group, its Chair, and the Executive Committee),
panels, and working groups. The scope of work will include contributions
to fulfillment of CliC scientific priorities as a part of the WCRP's
objectives and goals.

Applicants must have a PhD in cryospheric and polar research,
oceanographic sciences, or atmospheric sciences. A broad knowledge of
Earth system science including the subfields of climate and the
cryosphere is required, as are excellent communication skills and
fluency in English.
