The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) announces a
Virtual Poster Session entitled "Post-Arctic Frontiers." The webinar
will be held Thursday, 24 February 2011 at 5:00 p.m. GMT.

At the end of January, the Arctic Frontiers Conference in Tromso, Norway
(http://www.arcticfrontiers.com/) gathered scientists from around the
world working on various aspects of arctic research. The "Post-Arctic
Frontiers" Virtual Poster Session will include presentations by two
Early Career Scientists:

  1. Kristin Heggland (UNIS/University of Bergen) et al.
"Life history in Leptagonus decagonus (Atlantic poacher) in Svalbard
    waters"

  2. Pamela Wong (University of Toronto/Queen's University) et al.
"Reliability, accuracy, and tracking techniques of Inuit hunters in
estimating polar bear characteristics from tracks"

TO ATTEND THE WEBINAR
The webinar will be available to 100 participants. To reserve a spot in
the webinar, please email Alexey Pavlov (pavlov.alexey.k [at] gmail.com). Any
remaining spots will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Adobe Connect Pro software will be used to conduct the Virtual Poster
Session webinars. The software requires that Abode Flash Player be
installed on participants' computers. If your computer does not already
have Adobe Flash, please install it at:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

If you have not participated in a webinar before, a tutorial is
available at: http://www.apecs.is/virtual-poster-session/live-sessions.

Session" link.

The Virtual Poster Session effort focuses on bringing the concept of the
poster presentation beyond the four walls of the conference hall, and
creates an online database of polar research poster publications. This
project allows members with similar goals and interests to exchange
information and assures a platform for the exchange of polar and
cryospheric research, policy, and education activities that are shaping
the future of polar research.
