  1. Technical University of Copenhagen, National Space Institute seeks
    Postdoctoral Candidate in Cryosphere Research
    Copenhagen, Denmark

The National Space Institute, Technical University of Copenhagen (DTU
Space) seeks applications to a postdoctoral position in cryosphere
research. The position will be based in Copenhagen, Denmark and is
available as soon as possible.

The successful applicant will be attached to the Geodynamics Department,
and work on international projects related to earth observation from
satellites and aircraft, especially related to the monitoring of the ice
sheets (EU project "Ice2Sea", http://www.ice2sea.eu). As needed, the
position will also be expected to contribute to other cryosphere-related
research and contract tasks in the department. The Geodynamics
Department does research and development in physical geodesy, gravity
field, and cryosphere, and is a part of the Danish Continental Shelf
Project. Major 2011 projects will focus on the Arctic, Antarctica, and
South-East Asia, with additional minor projects in Greenland in support
of the Greenland Climate Research Center and ice advice for oil
exploration.

Position responsibilities will include:

- Research and development related to the use of satellite missions
for the understanding of changes in the ice sheets of the earth
(Greenland and Antarctica), including the use of supplementary data
such as GPS uplift and airborne data;
- Limited participation in airborne lidar and radar field campaigns
in polar regions;
- Participation in preparation and processing of data from field
campaigns; and
- Participation in other DTU Space tasks relating to icesheet and
sea-ice changes.

Applicants must possess a PhD degree or equivalent in geophysics,
geodesy, or a related field; and a demonstrated ability to write
scientific papers. Good knowledge of programming and large-scale data
handling will be an asset. Some international travel activity can be
expected, including participation in field activities and for
coordination meetings.

Application deadline: Monday, 3 January 2011.
