The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University
of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) seeks applications to two positions. Both
positions are open until filled.

1. Assistant Professor of Economics or Public Policy with Energy
Policy Emphasis, Tenure Track Position

ISER seeks a research faculty member to help build understanding of
energy and the economy, inform policy decisions, and offer relevant
instruction in energy economics and policy. The workload of this
position is focused on applied, collaborative research, supported
largely by external funding.

Candidates must demonstrate specialized experience, training, or
interest in energy economics or policy. Candidates must hold a PhD in
economics, energy and resources, or a closely related field; ABD (all

fields of energy economics and energy policy; strong quantitative and
statistical analysis skills; experience participating effectively in
collaborative, organized research with colleagues and staff from
multiple institutions and disciplines; and an interest in Alaska
economic and social challenges related to energy are preferred.

2. Research Professional, Energy Emphasis

ISER seeks candidates for the position of Research Professional with a

is an ongoing need for economic and policy analysis of energy projects,
issues, policies, programs, and technologies. This position will work
jointly with ISER and the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) on
complex technical analyses. This position is the primary research
associate working with faculty on energy economics and policy. The
analyst helps to define the research agenda; pursues external funding;
negotiates scopes of work; uses advanced tools to produce complex
quantitative analysis including model adaptation, design, and
development; works on projects to determine the economic viability and
sustainability of energy systems; leads financial and economic analysis
of specific projects as well as emerging and existing technologies
independently or as part of a larger research team; analyzes and
communicates results of evaluation by writing reports, papers, and
presentations for both internal and external audiences; and coordinates
economic-focused research projects.

Applicants must have a Master's degree in business, economics, or a
related field. In lieu of a degree, equivalent experience in these
fields is acceptable. Equivalent experience is defined as working with
