which may include logistics, site reconnaissance, site selection,
permitting, installation activities, maintenance, and data flow
activities.
- Work in conjunction with PIs, UNAVCO staff, and other
collaborators to plan and execute geophysical projects to support
the UNAVCO community.
- Specify station configurations and data collection strategies, and
develop related cost estimates and project budgets.
- Independently identify and solve technical issues related to
hardware, software, and data communications. Troubleshoot hardware,
software, and logistics.
- Independently train field personnel and other UNAVCO staff in best
practice techniques for geophysical data collection.
- Lead the design, fabrication, integration, testing, documentation,
and repair of hardware and software for geophysical projects.

required reports. Prepare content for UNAVCO web site.
- Review expenditures and provide documentation and technical
feedback to assist in the proposal writing process.

geophysical project results.
- Travel domestically or internationally for extended periods of time
in support of geophysical projects on short notice.

Candidates must possess expert knowledge of geophysical methodologies
and instrumentation, data communications, and power systems. Experience
supervising complex engineering tasks is required, as is the proven
ability to plan and coordinate complex geophysical research projects.
Applicants must possess a passport, valid driver's license, and a
UNAVCO-insurable driving record. Experience in processing geophysical
data and analyzing results is considered an asset, as is polar work
experience.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, Earth science,
or similar field or equivalent specialized work experience. A minimum of
three years experience in engineering, Earth science research, or other
relevant technical experience or a combination of relative education and
experience is required.

Willingness to work under difficult physical conditions is essential, as
the successful applicant will have to travel for extended periods of
time, including up to four months per year in Antarctica and other
domestic and international locations. Candidates must also be able to
lift and carry up to 50 lbs over one mile in rough terrain, pass the
