  1. Patrick Webber Awarded First IASC Medal

IASC announces that the first IASC Medal will be awarded to Professor
Emeritus Patrick John Webber. Patrick Webber is recognized for his
lifetime scientific contributions to arctic and alpine tundra ecology
and plant taxonomy, and the promotion of arctic research in general
through his inspiring mentorship and leadership.

The medal will be presented by IASC President David Hik, on Wednesday, 9
June 2010, at the IPY Oslo Science Conference. The award ceremony begins
at 1:20 p.m. CEST, and will be followed by a 30 minute lecture by the
awardee.

IASC announces that the Spring 2010 issue of IASC Progress is available

Highlights include:

  • The International Polar Year (IPY) Conferences in 2010 and 2012.
  • The announcement of the first IASC Medal.
  • New International Council for Science (ICSU) funded projects.

  1. Funding Opportunities for IASC Networks and Workshops

IASC is pleased to announce funding opportunities for IASC Networks and
Workshops.

Proposals can be submitted to the IASC Secretariat at any time using an
IASC proposal template. Proposals will be considered twice per year
after the submission deadlines of 31 August and 31 December.

The IASC proposal template, as well as further information on the
conditions and possibilities for proposals, is available on the news
page of the IASC website: http://www.iasc.info.
