The organizing committee of the 17th Inuit Studies Conference announces
a second call for papers. The University of Quebec in
Abitibi-Temiscamingue (UQAT) and DIALOG (research and knowledge network
relating to Aboriginal peoples) will host the Conference from 28-30
October 2010. The event will be held at the UQAT First Peoples Pavilion
on the Val-d'Or campus, Quebec, Canada, under the theme "The Inuit and
the Aboriginal World."
The intention of this theme is to explore the common concerns of the
Inuit and the other Aboriginal peoples throughout the world. Organizers
have proposed the following sub-themes:
- The environment;
- Climate change;
- Economic development; and
- Issues connected to languages, cultures, and education.
Anyone interested in submitting an abstract or in organizing a seminar
or a workshop about a specific issue should submit it to the organizers
of the Conference no later than Friday, 2 April 2010. Proposals can be
presented in French or in English. A scientific committee will select
the papers to be presented at the conference. The selections will be
made public in May 2010.

XXXI SCAR Meeting and Open Science Conference

Organizers of the 2010 XXXI SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic
Research) Meeting and Open Science Conference announce that the
conference website is now available at: http://www.dna.gov.ar/scar2010/.
The meeting runs from 30 July to 11 August 2010. Both SCAR XXXI and the
Open Science Conference will be held at the Hotel Panamericano Buenos
Aires. The dates for the individual meetings have being scheduled as
follows:
- SCAR Business Meetings (30 July - 2 August)
- SCAR Open Science Conference (3-6 August)
- SCAR Delegates Meeting (9-11 August)
Abstract submissions for the Open Science Conference will be accepted
through Thursday, 15 April 2010. Additional details on the abstract
submission process are available by clicking on the 'Abstracts &
