  1. 2010 Request for Proposals
    North Pacific Research Board

The North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) announces the release of its
regular 2010 Request for Proposals (RFP).

Funds are available for a total of $3.8 million USD. This RFP is similar
in form and content to past NPRB RFPs, with research priorities
structured around the 2005 NPRB Science Plan. Please consult the 2010
RFP and the NPRB Science Plan for further details on this year's
research priorities.

Proposals must be submitted online and will be accepted starting Friday,
23 October 2009. The deadline for proposal submission is 4 p.m. AKST
Friday, 4 December 2009.

The NPRB was created by Congress in 1997 to recommend marine research
initiatives to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. Its mission is to develop
a comprehensive science program of the highest caliber to enhance
understanding of the North Pacific, Bering Sea, and Arctic Ocean
ecosystems and fisheries. It conducts its work through science planning,
prioritization of pressing fishery management and ecosystem information
needs, coordination and cooperation among research programs, competitive
selection of research projects, increased information availability, and
public involvement.

  1. Vice President Indigenous Affairs
    University of the Arctic

The University of the Arctic (UArctic) announces a request for proposals
for the post of UArctic Vice President Indigenous Affairs.

The UArctic Strategic Plan 2009-2013 states that UArctic shall look to
increase leadership of indigenous peoples in the operation, governance,
and programmatic activities of UArctic. Further, the plan sets the
specific goal that by 2013 indigenous peoples and northerners will have
a well-defined, prominent role in the leadership and development of
UArctic.

As a reflection of these strategic objectives, the UArctic Board of
Governors has decided to strengthen the UArctic leadership by
establishing the post of UArctic Vice President Indigenous Affairs. The
goals and objectives as well as eligibility criteria and selection
process are detailed in the 'Terms of Reference' document available at:
http://www.uarctic.org/singleNewsArticle.aspx?m=83&amid=7782.

All UArctic members are eligible to submit proposals for the Vice
President Indigenous Affairs post by Friday, 30 October 2009. The
proposals, signed by the President/Director of the member organization,
should be sent by email to the UArctic International Secretariat at:
