  1. Call for Submissions - Human Health at the Ends of the Earth
    Rural and Remote Health eJournal

Submissions are invited for "Human Health at the Ends of the Earth," a
special issue of the eJournal Rural and Remote Health (RRH) focusing on
human health in the arctic and Antarctic regions. Publication is planned
for February 2010.

A range of topics will be considered, including but not limited to:
- Indigenous health experience and issues;
- The impact of global warming on mental and physical health;
- Biological and social determinants of health;
- The development of unique health care delivery systems for local
and remote care; and
- Health promotion and community development in local circumpolar
communities.

Manuscripts will have a rural/remote focus and can be in the form of
original research, commentary, review, case report, or project report.

Submission Deadline: 31 October 2009.

  1. Request for Input - Quality Status Report 2010
    The OSPAR Commission

The OSPAR Commission is finalizing a major assessment of the quality
status of the North-East Atlantic - the Quality Status Report (QSR)
2010. This assessment, summarizing ten years of work, will inform the
2010 OSPAR Ministerial Meeting in Bergen on the environmental status and
future actions for the protection and conservation of the North-East
Atlantic.

The draft report will be submitted to a four week public e-consultation
via the OSPAR website from 1-30 November 2009. All contributions will be
very much appreciated.
