Organizers of Session GC02, "From Deglaciation to Global Warming:
High-Latitude and High-Altitude Landscape Responses to Climate Change,"
announce a call for abstracts. The session will be convened at the
American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting, 14-18 December 2009, in
San Francisco, California.

High-latitude (polar) and high-altitude (alpine) landscapes change most
dynamically during periods of climate warming because of albedo and
polar amplification effects. This session focuses on evidence for
dynamical changes in land surface processes and climate in polar and
alpine areas, including variations in sediment generation and supply to
mountain and proglacial landscapes, river basins, and coasts. The types
of proxy records of interest here include glaciers and glacial landforms
and sediments; permafrost and periglacial processes and structures;
ecological patterns; alluvial, mass movement, and fluvial processes,
sediments, and landforms; geochemical and isotopic evidence (including C
cycling); and geochronology and modeling. Integration of these data
illustrates land surface responses to rapid climate changes, and in a
systems context. This session will be of interest to field scientists
working in the areas outlined above, as well as climatologists,
modelers, and managers.

The abstract submission deadline for this and all other sessions is
Thursday, 3 September 2009, at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time. To submit
an abstract, you must enter the first author's current AGU member ID and
password at: http://agu-fm09.abstractcentral.com/.
