Organizers of Session GC12, "Greenland: An Island of Change in the
Biological, Physical, and Social Systems," announce a call for
abstracts. The session will be convened at the American Geophysical
Union (AGU) Fall Meeting, 14-18 December 2009, in San Francisco,
California.

Session organizers are especially interested in soliciting the
submission of abstracts that address changes in the nature, structure,
and function of the Greenland Ice Sheet; the changing nature of
plant-animal interactions; shifts in terrestrial and freshwater
biogeochemical cycles; and the changing nature of native and commercial
uses of terrestrial and marine resources under the new states of
Greenland. Organizers are accepting abstracts that focus on modern,
historical, and palaeo studies.

Of all the regions in the globe, Greenland is experiencing some of the
most rapid changes in climate - biologically, physically, and socially.
These changes are manifested by the thinning of the ice sheet, shifts in
the patterns of vegetation growth, changes in plant-animal interactions,
alterations in biogeochemical cycles, land and ocean uses by native
communities, and alterations in freshwater systems.

The abstract submission deadline for this and all other sessions is
Thursday, 3 September 2009, at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time. To submit
an abstract, you must enter the first author's current AGU member ID and
password at: http://agu-fm09.abstractcentral.com/.
