The Meteorology Department at New Mexico State University seeks
applicants for Assistant Professor / State Climatologist. The position
is a 12 month, non-tenure track position on the main campus of New
Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Applicants must hold
a PhD in meteorology, climatology, or a related field. The successful
candidate will be able to write computer programs such as Frotran and
Basic that support climatology or meteorology activities.

The successful candidate will conduct research on climate that impacts
agriculture and water resources and will provide climatic information to
researchers, extension faculty, agricultural producers, state, federal,
and local agencies, and other interested parties. S/He will operate and
maintain a remote weather station network consisting of 16 remote
weather stations throughout the state. The Assistant Professor will also
be tasked with maintaining and updating a climatic database, acquiring
climatic data from external sources, maintaining a website to provide
climate data and information pertinent to New Mexico, and teaching
courses in meteorology and climatology.
