The National Science Foundation's Office of Polar Programs (NSF / OPP)
seeks candidates for the position of Program Director for the Antarctic
Earth Science Program, Division of Antarctic Sciences.

The Antarctic Earth Sciences Program encompasses research in all aspects
of geology, geophysics, and geochemistry to understand the Antarctic
continent and the adjacent ocean basin, including such topical areas as
the tectonic evolution of the continent, physical and chemical processes
that shape the continent, paleoenvironmental and paleobiological
research to understand Antarctica's role in global climate, ocean
circulation, and the evolution of life, and understanding the ice sheets
by using sediment records to reconstruct their history and geophysical
approaches to determine the geological controls on their formation and
stability.

Applicants must possess a PhD or have equivalent experience in geology,
geophysics, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of six years of
research, research administration, and/or managerial experience
pertinent to the position.

Appointment to this position may be filled on a permanent basis, one- or
two-year Visiting Scientist Appointment, or a Federal Temporary
appointment. Alternatively, the position may be filled under the
Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) assignment.
