The Pole at Last!
March 26 through April 24, 2009
The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum
A special exhibit featuring a key page from Peary's North Pole diary
(rarely seen by the public), as well as other crew members' journals. A
100-year reunion of these and other North Pole objects, including the
American flag that flew at the North Pole, the undershirt Peary wore
with pockets for his chronometers, the revolver he carried, and the
Hubbard Sledge made by Henson and used on the final dash to the Pole.

Hundreds of objects, augmented by photographs, sound recordings, and
film clips, are used to tell some of the little-known stories behind
Peary's efforts to reach the northernmost place on earth.

Reaching for the Pole: An Exhibition Celebrating the Centennial of
Peary's North Pole Expedition

An exhibition covering a long sweep of Arctic exploration history,
featuring documents and books housed in the George J. Mitchell
Department of Special Collections and Archives.

The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10:00 am
to 5:00 pm, Sunday 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Closed on Monday and national
holidays, except Monday, April 6, 2009 when the Museum will be open for
