The periglacial section at the Alfred Wegener Institute of Polar and
Marine Research (AWI) in Potsdam, Germany seeks a PhD student to
establish spatial and temporal linkages between water and energy fluxes
at the landscape scale. The position will include micrometeorological
fieldwork in arctic Siberia and thermal remote sensing with
ground-truthing.

Applicants must have a Master's degree in physics, meteorology,
geosciences or similar discipline, must have arctic fieldwork
experience, be able to excel as part of a team, and be fluent in written
and spoken English. Experience in eddy covariance, programming skills,
raster data analysis, EO-data processing, and Russian language ability
are preferred, but not required.

The PhD project will be carried out in AWI's periglacial section,
located in Potsdam, Berlin, Germany, within the SPARC, Helmholtz
University young investigator group, in cooperation with the University
of Hamburg (Department of Soil Sciences), Germany, and within the EOS-II
framework with a PhD student of the German Space Agency (DLR). The
position will be funded for three years.
