The National Park Service (NPS) Arctic Network (ARCN) seeks to recruit 2
undergraduate or graduate students for summer 2009 (approximately 18
May-4 September, depending on the student's semester schedule). Students
will assist with established field projects in the capacity of
logistics, expediting gear, and data entry. They will also assist in the
field on vegetation and soil surveys, small mammals surveys, and lakes
and streams sampling.

Qualified applicants must have strong organizational skills, work well
individually and in teams, have working knowledge of Microsoft Word,
Excel, and some experience using GPS and GIS (ArcMap), and have
experience with wilderness camping and hiking. Preference will be given
to candidates with remote fieldwork experience and experience working
with data summarization and databases. The incumbent will complete
training in aircraft, wilderness, bear, and firearms safety and 1st
aid/CPR during the first few weeks of work.
