The Canadian Geophysical Union/Hydrology invites papers to session CG09,
"Recent Advances in the Scientific Basis of Water Resources Management,"
being convened at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) / Canadian
Geophysical Union (CGU) Joint Assembly, 24-27 May 2009, in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada.

Session Description:
As population and development increase and climate shifts from late
20th-century patterns, hydrological science has a greater role to play
in the management and sustainability of North America's crucial and
changing water resources. By understanding and predicting hydrological
processes at a wide range of spatial and temporal scales, the
hydrological community can provide information that facilitates
appropriate management of water resources now and in the future.

Abstracts are invited from both field and modeling studies that seek to
improve the predictability of hydrologic systems and, in particular,
focus on the couplings and feedback among different components of the
hydrologic cycle, between natural and engineered water systems, and
between human activities and the hydrologic cycle. Approaches that have
applications in data sparse regions are particularly welcomed.
Presentations should highlight the potential for application or provide
examples of current partnerships between hydrological scientists and
water resources managers. This session is an opportunity to bring
attention to crucial connections between basic research and operational
hydrology and to highlight the impact that basic research can make in
water resource management.

Abstracts must be submitted online by Wednesday, 4 March 2009. For
further information, including abstract submission guidelines, please go
to: http://www.agu.org/meetings/ja09/index.php.
