The Antarctic Science Division (ANT) of the National Science
Foundation's Office of Polar Programs (NSF OPP) is seeking a Program
Manager for the Antarctic Integrated System Science (AISS) Program. This
position will be filled as a Federal Temporary Appointment, on a 1- or
2-year Visiting Scientist Appointment, or under the terms of the
Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA). For full information, please
search for job posting "E20090012-Rotator" at: http://www.usajobs.gov.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing on-going projects
supported by the AISS program, as well as a dynamic, proposal-driven
research grants program. Through interactions with the community and
related research programs within ANT, in other NSF divisions, or in
other organizations, the Program Director will have the opportunity to
shape the future of this recently established program. Science community
input for the program can be found at:
http://cresp.tamu.edu/AISSWorkshop, and from the current program
description at:
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=503240&org=ANT.

The AISS program director coordinates closely with directors of the
other Antarctic Science Programs (Aeronomy & Astrophysics, Atmosphere &
Ocean Sciences, Earth Science, Glaciology or Organisms & Ecosystems) to
assure that AISS research addresses questions about the Antarctic as a
system that transcends disciplinary boundaries and research that is
highly integrated and broader in scope than typically addressed by the
other programs. The AISS program director also coordinates with other
programs throughout NSF and with other funding agencies to achieve
program goals. Examples of AISS research projects funded for the
International Polar Year can be found at:
http://www.nsf.gov/od/opp/ipy/ipy_awards_07.jsp.
