The Arctic Research Mapping Application (ARMAP) team invites you to "One
on One with ARMAP," an opportunity during the American Geophysical Union
(AGU) Fall Meeting for hands-on activities and training with ARMAP. This
session will be held Monday, 15 December 2008, from 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
in the ARCUS Community Meeting Space at the San Francisco Marriott
(Pacific Room A). Registration is encouraged, but not required.

The ARMAP team will highlight the ARMAP web mapping applications in
support of arctic science. One-on-one interactive demonstrations will be
tailored to the specific interests and needs of those who attend. For
example, learn more about research projects recently funded in your
region of interest or scientific discipline. Explore available data or
possible collaborations. Or, use the online mapping tools to meet your
own project's specific goals.

The San Francisco Marriott is one block from the AGU sessions at the
Moscone Center West. To view an online map, please go to:

ARMAP is a suite of online, interactive maps and services that support
arctic science. With 2D Maps and 3D Globes, users can navigate to areas
of interest and explore or query information about field-based
scientific research in the Arctic. Research sites are shown as points
with links to details about project investigator, discipline, funding
program, year, related websites, and other elements. ARMAP includes
satellite imagery, other base maps, and map layers for places, roads,
and natural features. Users can print or export maps for presentations,
export selected data, select from a "map gallery" of predefined images,
or link directly to a variety of database web services. With special
emphasis on the International Polar Year (IPY), ARMAP strives to benefit
scientists, science logistics experts, educators, and the general
public. The "One on One with ARMAP" session is offered in conjunction
with two oral presentations: Monday, 15 December at 9:30 a.m. (abstract
number 14744) and Thursday, 18 December at 2:40 p.m. (abstract number
14753).
