The Norwegian College of Fishery Science (NCFS), in the Department of
Aquatic BioSciences at the University of Tromso, seeks candidates for a
research fellowship in experimental zooplankton ecology. The position is
contingent on the European Union's approval of the project "Arctic
Tipping Points," and is open to students wishing to complete a PhD.

The successful applicant must document his/her knowledge in marine
biology or marine ecology at Master's level. Further, the successful
applicant must fulfil the requirements for admission to the faculty's
PhD program at the University of Tromso.

The successful candidate must apply separately for admission to the PhD
study as soon as possible after appointment to the fellowship, and no
later than one month after commencement. Within three months after
commencement, admission to the doctoral degree programme must be
obtained and a final plan for the researcher's education must be
approved and regulated by contract. The plan shall also state who is
responsible for providing academic supervision.

Applicants will be assessed by an expert committee, whose main emphasis
of assessment will be on the applicant's potential for research as is
evident from:
- Master's thesis or equivalent
- Other scientific works
- Project description (based on the "Arctic Tipping Points" project.

In addition, work experience and other activities of significance for
the implementation of the doctoral degree program and possible teaching
qualifications may be taken into consideration. Administration and
organisational experience as well as experience from the Arctic and
experimental work will be viewed favourably. Information and material to
be considered must be submitted within the closing date for
applications. Applicants must submit a list of all their scientific
works including details of possible publication.
