The University of Tromso seeks applicants for a research position in
Pelagic-Benthic Coupling at The Norwegian College of Fishery Science
(NCFS), Department of Aquatic BioSciences.
A doctoral degree in marine biology or ecology is a prerequisite for
appointment in the position. The applicant must be able to document
scientific knowledge in pelagic-benthic coupling and biogeochemistry,
preferentially from different regions of the Arctic Ocean. Consideration
will also be given to knowledge in vertical export, plankton and
benthos.
Applications must be accompanied by a proposal for the anticipated work
and must include a work schedule. In addition, applicants must include a
proposed plan indicating how the project will be implemented. The plan
shall form part of (an appendix to) the employment contract for the
fixed term and shall cover the project description and work schedule.
Appointments are made on the understanding that the appointee shall
complete his/her project within the contract term.
An expert committee, whose main emphasis will be placed on assessment of
the submitted scientific works and the project proposal, will assess
applications. The committee will also evaluate candidates based on
experience as indicated from popularization/publication, administration,
work related to disciplinary development and experience from fieldwork
(preferentially in the Arctic).
