The University of New Hampshire invites applications for a Postdoctoral
Research Associate, with expertise in peatland ecology and/or
biogeochemical / hydrological modeling. The successful candidate will
join a collaborative, National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded project:
"Collaborative Research: Identifying Hydroclimatic Regimes of Carbon
Stability in Northern Peatlands - Holocene Data Analysis and
Process-based Modeling."

The project is evaluating and modeling the coupled carbon-water dynamics
of northern peatlands through the Holocene and under present and future
climate conditions. Position responsibilities include development,
parameterization, testing, and application of a spatially-distributed
model of coupled carbon and water dynamics in northern peatlands over
long time scales; model-data analysis in collaboration with
paleo-research groups at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)
and Lehigh; and communicating results at national/international meetings
and in peer-reviewed publications. Modeling work will be done in close
collaboration with colleagues in the Department of Geography at McGill
University.

The candidate must have experience in one or more of the following
areas: peatland ecology, ecosystem dynamics, hydrology, geo-spatial data
analysis and modeling, ecological and/or biogeochemical modeling. The
candidate should have strong quantitative and programming skills (e.g.,
C, MATLAB). Ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary team is
important. A PhD in Atmospheric Science, Earth System Science, Ecology,
Environmental Science, Physical Geography or relevant field is required.
