The department of archaeology and the school of geosciences, at the
University of Aberdeen, invite applications for one fixed-term lecture
position, and two permanent lecture positions. All positions are in the
archaeology department.

The fixed-term lecture position is for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Applicants with teaching experience in the fields of archaeology,
British prehistory, and material culture studies are particularly
encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will complement and extend
existing research strengths in archaeology, such as northern and
circumpolar societies, hunter-gatherer studies, ancient mentalities,
religions, world-views, and landscape analysis. For further information
about this position, and to apply, please go to:

The application deadline for this position is Friday, 4 July 2008.

The department also invites applications for a permanent lecturer and a
senior lecturer/reader to work with colleagues both within the
archaeology discipline and more widely within the college. Candidates
should have a proven track record of research and publication in the
archaeology of the northern world. The department particularly seeks
applicants working with prehistoric or historic periods in North America
and/or northern Eurasia (including Scandinavia). Other areas of specific
interest include zooarchaeology, archaeobotany, bioarchaeology,
archaeological materials science and archaeological geophysics.
Candidates who can combine any of these skills with the stated regional
specialties are especially encouraged to apply. Archaeologists who
specialize in northern indigenous communities, or who conduct
archaeological work in those areas are also strongly encouraged to
apply. For further information about these positions and to apply,
