The Department of Geophysics at the University Center in Svalbard
(UNIS), Norway invites applications for a Full or Associate
Professorship in Middle Atmospheric Physics. The center seeks a
candidate to complement the department's aim to cover the entire column
from sub-sea to near space. The department is especially interested to
utilize the unique research infrastructure on Svalbard in order to gain
insight into the processes linking the middle atmosphere with the
ionosphere and magnetosphere. The successful candidate will have the
opportunity to capitalize on and potentially expand these resources.

It is expected that the selected candidate will conduct research within
the general activity at UNIS, and participate in teaching and
supervision of Master and PhD students in cooperation with the mainland
universities. The candidate will also be expected to participate
actively in the recruitment of students to UNIS. Qualified candidates
must have a PhD in an appropriate field, the ability to work
independently, a positive attitude, and be flexible to changing work
conditions. A well-established international research network and
experience working from Svalbard and / or other polar areas are
preferred.
