The IRIS PASSCAL Instrument Center at New Mexico Tech is seeking
applicants to fill the position of Polar Projects Field Engineer. This
is a fixed term 3-year appointment with the possibility of ex-tension as
funds become available. Primary responsibility is to support Polar
research both in the field and in the lab.

The successful candidate will:
- Provide field support of seismological experiments both in the Arctic
and Antarctic
- Develop specialized equipment for extreme-cold and dark environments
- Produce and maintain documentation and web content related to Polar
support
- Provide user training
- Schedule, prepare, and ship equipment
- Have experience with field data-collection systems
- Be knowledgeable with wireless communications, installation, and
network design
- Have skills pertaining to DC power systems
- Understand and have familiarity with time-series data formats
- Have some seismological fieldwork experience

Applicants must have a Master's degree or higher in geophysics or a
related science, and /or three or more years of directly-related
experience relevant to the support of in-house and field seismology
operations. S/He must have the ability to work productively and
collegially in team situations under demanding laboratory and field
conditions. Travel to the Arctic and Antarctica will be required.
