The Paleontological Society and Gulf Coast Association of Geological
Societies announce a special session, "Ancient Polar Ecosystems and
Environments: Proxies for Understanding Climate Change and Global
Warming," to be held at the 2008 Geological Society of America meeting,
in Houston, Texas, 5-9 October 2008. Abstracts are now being accepted
for this session.

The session will focus on multidisciplinary studies that encompass
multiple proxy indicators of ancient high latitude ecosystems,
particularly in the northern hemisphere. Papers focusing on
reconstructing both local and regional ecosystems are particularly
encouraged.
