The University of Tromso announces a PhD-student research fellow
position in Marine Biology at the Norwegian College of Fishery Science
(NCFS), in the Department of Aquatic BioScienes. The position is funded
by the Norwegian Research Council for a period of 3 years.

The candidate will study grazing and stoichiometry in arctic marine
zooplankton, and their roles in marine biogeochemical cycles.
Zooplankton elemental compositions and their regulation will be central
to the study. The practical work will include participation in field
expeditions in the European Arctic and lab-based experiments.

The successful applicant must document knowledge in marine or aquatic
biology at the Master's level and must be able to fulfill the
requirements for admission to the PhD program at the University of
Tromso and the NCFS. Experience in zooplankton ecology or experimental
biology is required. The candidate will work alongside senior scientists
and PhD students representing the fields of marine ecology,
biogeochemistry, and ecosystem modeling in an interdisciplinary project
investigating ecosystem response to climate change. Strong collaborative
skills are a requirement, and field work experience is regarded as an
asset.
