The Arctic Section of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine
Engineers announces ICETECH 08, the international conference on ships
and structures in ice. The conference will take place in Banff, Alberta,
Canada, from 20-23 July 2008. The Theme of this year's conference is
"Performance in Ice," with emphasis on icebreaking ships, ice resistant
structures, and operations in ice. The conference will cover a variety
of topics, including:

  • Icebreaking Ships (including naval architecture and marine operations)
  • Structures in Ice / Iceberg populated waters (including structure
    design, ice / iceberg structure interaction and ice / iceberg mechanics)
  • Construction and logistics in ice-covered areas
  • New offshore developments in ice-covered areas

  • Ice conditions, forecasting, and remote sensing
