The University of California, Santa Barbara announces a postdoctoral
position opening in physical limnology, with an emphasis on the linkages
between internal waves, turbulence, and ecological processes. The
successful applicant will further address the linkages between large
scale atmospheric dynamics and the surface forcing of lakes with the
goal of placing process studies in a larger context. Study sites
include lakes in the arctic and temperate zone.

The position is full time, and the initial appointment is for one-year
on a multi-year project. Continuation beyond one year will be based on
performance and availability of funding.

Applicants must hold a PhD in physical limnology, physical oceanography,
environmental engineering, or aquatic ecology, with demonstrated
experience in analysis and interpretation of observational data, and a
record of communicating research results. As the research is part
field-oriented, the candidate should have proven ability to conduct
research successfully under arduous field conditions. Experience in
hydrodynamical modeling and working as part of an interdisciplinary team
are desirable.
