The UNOLS Arctic Icebreaker Coordinating Committee (AICC), which
provides scientific oversight and advice to the NSF Office of Polar
Programs and USCG icebreakers (HEALY, POLAR SEA, and POLAR STAR), is
seeking two new committee members immediately and will need one
additional member within a year.

AICC strives to maintain institutional and scientific breadth. At this
time AICC especially encourages applicants and nominees from one or more
of the following arctic disciplines: meteorology, remote sensing, and
sea ice-related research (preferably but not exclusively with focus on
sea ice biological processes). Icebreaker (on USCG or international
vessels) or high latitude experience is required. Late next year, the
committee will be looking for one additional member, likely with Arctic
Chemical Oceanography expertise. Committee term is three years. All
members are appointed by the UNOLS Chair based on recommendation of the
AICC and with the concurrence of the UNOLS Council. A member may serve
one additional three-year term. Membership for the first two candidates
is expected to begin as soon as possible and for the third candidate in
the winter of 2008-2009.

Applications and nominations, including a brief letter of interest and
CV, should be submitted by 1 March 2008, for the first two openings, and
by 1 August 2008, for the Chemical Oceanographer opening. Applications
and nominations should be sent to the UNOLS Office at: office [at] unols.org.
