Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) Sea Ice Meeting
American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2007 Fall Meeting

Where: Marriott Hotel, Sierra A (5th floor)


The Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) Sea Ice Meeting will take place during
the American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2007 Fall Meeting on Tuesday, 11
December 2007, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the San Francisco Marriott
Hotel, Sierra A (5th floor). Light refreshments provided. The meeting
will be held immediately following the Nye lecture, which finishes at
5:00 p.m., and will conclude at 7:00 p.m. for the Polar Reception, which
is also being held at the Marriott Hotel.

The CliC project invites all interested scientists to this information
and discussion meeting of Arctic and Antarctic sea ice researchers. The
meeting will provide a forum for discussion of new and ongoing sea ice
research projects in both the Arctic and Antarctic, particularly in the
context of IPY.

Agenda items already listed for discussion include sea ice in relation
to:
1) development of an in situ data portal;
2) data recovery efforts;
3) establishment of an Arctic specialist group;
4) Arctic Council;
5) Arctic and Southern Ocean Observing Systems;
6) SOPHOCLES; and
7) development of a field handbook.

Prospective attendees are welcome to contribute additional agenda items

A follow-up meeting will take place at the same venue the next morning,
Wednesday, 12 December, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This meeting will
provide an opportunity for more detailed discussion of items presented
the previous evening, and to discuss the next steps.
