The Laboratoire de Glaciologie et Geophysique de l'Environnement (LGGE)
and Laboratoire des Ecoulements Geophysiques et Industriels (LEGI) are
accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship on the project
"Study of the Ross Sea climate system using a coupled regional
atmosphere/sea ice/ocean model." This is a one-year position to begin in
early 2008 (no later than September 2008).

The objective of the proposed work is to contribute to the study of Ross
Sea polynyas and to validate the coupled atmosphere/sea ice/ocean
regional model TANGO for the last 20 years. TANGO has been developed
from the regional atmospheric climate model MAR and the ocean sea ice
model NEMO, and will be run with an horizontal resolution of 10 km.
Particular attention will be given to the atmosphere/sea ice/ocean
interactions influencing polynya dynamics and the formation of Antarctic
bottom water. The regional models will be forced at its boundaries by
ECMWF re-analyses for the atmospheric component, with ocean sea-ice
hindcast carried out by the DRAKKAR project for the ocean components.

The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in the team performing long
term simulations with TANGO. The successful candidate's main task will
be to analyze the results of the 20-year simulation and contribute to
the improvement of the coupled modeling system.

Applicants must have a PhD in dynamical meteorology or physical
oceanography, as well as skill in numerical modeling. To apply, please
submit a statement of research interests and curriculum vitae before
Monday, 10 December 2007, to:
