China-U.S. Science at the Poles (CUSP) is an informal working group with
a mission to promote and facilitate bi- and multi-lateral programs that
encourage cooperation between China and the U.S. in the polar regions.
Scientific investigations in the polar regions have ramifications far
beyond the geographic area of the poles. A fundamental element of polar
science and research is to understand the role of and linkages between
polar processes and the Earth system.
CUSP grew out of "China-U.S. Polar Region Partnerships: The
International Polar Year 2007-2008 and Beyond," a roundtable discussion
held at the 3rd George Bush China-U.S. Conference on China and U.S.
Relations held on 23-25 October 2007, in Washington, DC.
Interested individuals are invited to view the CUSP website, in

about specific opportunities for partnerships between the two countries,
