A proposed expedition by the research vessel WHITE HOLLY to the
Northwest Passage in 2008 is seeking recommendations from the arctic
research community on scientific objectives and strategy. Expedition
leaders would like to design a research program that looks into various
aspects of oceanography, natural sciences, anthropology, marine biology,
marine microbes, etc., with a particular focus on issues that have not
yet been studied in this area.

The expedition may also include a research team on a follow-up mission
in an attempt at locating the ships from the original Franklin
expedition. The expedition is tentatively planned for 90-120 days, with
two weeks on and around O'Reilly Island and the balance of time devoted
to exploratory science.
