The Department of Physics at University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand
invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship on the project
"Winter Sea Ice Growth Processes." The fixed-term, 24-month position
begins 1 August 2008.

The successful candidate must have expertise in the area of experimental
physics. The primary goal of the project is to assess the contribution
of ice shelf-ocean interaction to the winter growth and thickness of
coastal sea ice. The successful candidate, field assistant, and possible
graduate student will be expected to conduct winter field experiments
from Scott Base, the New Zealand base in Antarctica. During the
seven-month period in Antarctica, the successful candidate may be
responsible for the direct supervision of the graduate student.
Applicants should have a PhD in physics, geophysics, engineering,
mathematics or oceanography. Preference will be given to those with
experience in polar fieldwork, particularly on sea ice.
