Registration for the 2nd Short-lived Pollutants and Arctic Climate
(SPAC) Workshop is open until Monday, 10 September 2007. The workshop
will be held on 5-7 November 2007 at the Norwegian Institute for Air
Research (NILU) in Kjeller, Norway.

The goal of the 2nd SPAC workshop will be to assess the current
understanding of the impact of short-lived pollutants on arctic climate
and outline research that is needed to further that understanding.
Topics to be addressed at the 2nd SPAC workshop include, among others,
aerosol-cloud interactions, impacts of black carbon (BC), and interplay
between NOx, ozone, and methane. The workshop also includes a follow-up
policy conference to explore the potential implications of these
research findings for the international climate regime, including the
possibility for an Arctic-specific initiative given the urgent need to
slow current melting, international support for intensified research
efforts, and potential early mitigation efforts.
