The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) invites
nominations for the 2007 AAAS Philip Hauge Abelson Prize. The prize is
awarded annually to either: a public servant in recognition of sustained
exceptional contributions to advancing science, or a scientist whose
career has been distinguished both for scientific achievement and for
other notable services to the scientific community.

This annual award was established in 1985 by the AAAS Board of Directors
and consists of a plaque and an honorarium of $5,000. The winner will be
selected by a five-member judging panel. The 2007 Philip Hauge Abelson
Prize will be presented at the AAAS Annual Meeting in Boston on 14-18
February 2008.

Nominations should include the name, e-mail address, mailing address,
and phone number of both the nominee and person making the nomination, a
statement (no more than three pages) providing the rationale for the
nomination, and the nominee's vita or resume (no more than three pages).
The above information should be submitted no later than 1 September 2007
