Papers are invited for the session "Human Dimensions of the Arctic
System - Expanding the Framework for Research" at the American
Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) 2007 Arctic Division
Annual Meeting to be held on 24-26 September 2007 in Anchorage, Alaska.
The theme of the 2007 AAAS meeting is "Partnering for Northern Futures:
Science, Policy, Education, Legacy in the International Polar Year."

The Human Dimensions of the Arctic System (HARC) Core Office at the
University of Alaska Fairbanks invites papers and posters that address
the following questions:
- How does human dimensions research connect with research on the other
dimensions of the arctic system?
- How does arctic human dimensions research connect with and inform
global human dimensions research?

Papers and posters that focus on identifying and understanding linkages
and feedbacks among the different components of the arctic system and
among those of the global system and that highlight interdisciplinarity
across physical, biological, and social sciences are encouraged.

Abstracts should be submitted by Wednesday, 1 August 2007 at:
http://arcticaaas.org/meetings/2007/abstract.html, and via e-mail to the
HARC Core office at: ffmsm [at] uaf.edu.

HARC was created in 1997 as a component of the Arctic System Science
Program (ARCSS) of the National Science Foundation. Within ARCSS, the
aim of HARC is to better understand the role of humans in the
functioning of and interactions among the various physical, biological,
and social components of the arctic system and the significance of
changes in the arctic system for people in the Arctic and across the
globe.
