The Cooperative Institute of Limnology and Ecosystems Research (CILER),
School of Natural Resources and Environment (SNRE) at the University of
Michigan, together with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration/Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory
(NOAA/GLERL) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position
in ocean-ice-ecosystem modeling and/or climate change. CILER conducts
state-of-the-art research focused on arctic and sub-arctic (i.e., the
Great Lakes) ice-ocean-ecosystem modeling, climate change and
variability, understanding basic mechanisms and feedbacks related to
arctic and sub-arctic climate, and investigating arctic climate in the
context of the global climate system.

The successful candidate will be engaged in research aimed at
establishing a state-of-the-art coupled ice-ocean regional or nested
model in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas and the Great Lakes. The
candidate will also be required to gradually pursue external research
funding and conduct fieldwork. The project will focus on computer
modeling of ice-ocean systems, atmospheric data analysis, and model-data
comparison. Applicants with a strong interest and background in
high-latitude physical oceanography, sea ice dynamics and modeling, or
atmospheric dynamics are encouraged to apply. Data assimilation skill
will be a plus. The position is for a one-year period and renewable for
second year depending upon satisfaction of performance. The appointment
is intended at the level of postdoctoral research fellow, but highly
qualified candidates eligible for high-level appointments (i.e.,
Research Assistant Scientist) may be considered.

Applicants must have a PhD in oceanography, meteorology or a closely
related field, and have research interests in dynamics/processes in sea
ice, ocean, and atmosphere using both modeling and data diagnosis.
Applicants should submit a cover letter of intent, detailed resume with
list of publications, statement of research interests (no more than two
pages), and contact information of three references to:
