The Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy (ACCAP) in
conjunction with the Resilience and Adaptation Program (RAP) at the
University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking a PhD student to evaluate the
science-policy interface in climate change adaptation in Alaska.

ACCAP's mission is to assess the socio-economic and biophysical impacts
of climate variability in Alaska, make this information available to
local and regional decision-makers, and improve the ability of Alaskans
to adapt to a changing climate. The RAP graduate program integrates the
tools and approaches of several fields, including ecology, resource
management, climate dynamics, economics, anthropology, political
science, philosophy, and community and regional development, to
understand the functioning of regional systems in order to address rapid
social and ecological change. For more information about RAP, please go
to:
http://www.rap.uaf.edu/

The position is ideal for a motivated, interdisciplinary student
interested in scientific information transfer and development of
strategies for improving communication between scientists and
policy-makers related to climate change and impacts in Alaska.
Applicants with quantitative and qualitative research experience who are
interested in linking social and biophysical sciences are welcome.
Tuition and stipend are available for three years. Familiarity with
climate change impacts in Alaska and with diverse Alaskan stakeholders
is beneficial.
