The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) of the Cooperative
Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the
University of Colorado at Boulder is accepting applications for the
position of User Services Representative to join a team that interfaces
with scientists and the general public regarding cryospheric and Earth
science data and information.
The User Services Representative acts as the central interface to the
user community on behalf of the entire NSIDC. This interface function
includes collecting and maintaining user contact and request
information, providing and/or coordinating information and data services
in response to user inquiries, tracking communication and
correspondence, ensuring that inquiries have been satisfied following
established procedure, and representing the user perspective in
development efforts. Additional responsibilities include participation
in working groups and representing User Services in other NSIDC tasks
and meetings as appropriate and attending conferences to support users
and promote NSIDC's data and services.
Qualifications include a Bachelors degree, ability to work in a team
environment, aptitude for problem solving and attention to detail,
experience working with remote sensing data, and customer service
experience. The position includes a benefits package with 22 days annual
