Applications are invited by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems
Cooperative Research Centre (ACE CRC) for the position of Sea-Ice
Analyst and Forecasting Systems Programmer, which will be offered on a
full-time, fixed-term basis until 30 June 2010.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the ACE CRC team
that is developing a sea-ice analysis and forecasting system to be
incorporated into the Australian Bureau of Meteorology operational suite
of forecast systems. The analysis system will be a two-part system with
the first component using high resolution MODIS-style data and the
second component expected to use lower resolution data, such as SSM/I
and AMSR/E.

The successful candidate must possess a degree with at least four years
subsequent experience or an equivalent combination of relevant
experience and/or education and training. The candidate must possess
strong computer programming skills and experience in geophysical data
types, as well as a solid working knowledge of FORTRAN. Applicants
should also have the ability to work both independently and
collaboratively as part of a research team covering multiple
disciplines.

ACE CRC is funded through the Australian government's CRC Programme and
by centre partners, including the Australian Antarctic Division,
Australian Bureau of Meteorology, Australian Commonwealth Scientific and
Industrial Research Organisation, University of Tasmania, and
international organizations.
