The 37th International Arctic Workshop will be held 2-5 May 2007, at
Skaftafell National Park, Iceland. Papers are being accepted until
Saturday, 31 March 2007. Sponsored by the Institute of Earth Sciences at
University of Iceland, the workshop is multidisciplinary and open to
anyone interested in past, present, and future arctic environments.

Professor John T. Andrews, who started the Arctic Workshop thirty-seven
years ago, will present the Plenary Address on "Past, present and future
research on the Quaternary marine geology of the Iceland shelf and
slope."

Graduate students and postdocs are especially encouraged to attend. With
support from the National Science Foundation, Arctic Natural Sciences
Program, workshop organizers will be able to cover much of the
registration fee and cost of room, board, and local transportation for
North American students who will be presenting research, either as oral
or poster presentations. Funding is also available for return airfare to
Iceland for graduate students attending universities in the United
States.

In addition, the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) Past
Global Changes (PAGES) project office has approved funds to provide
modest travel assistance for researchers presenting original research at
the Arctic Workshop who are from countries where travel funds are
particularly scarce. IGBP-PAGES is funded by the U.S. and Swiss National
Science Foundations and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA).

Requests for funding support should be made by Saturday, 31 March 2007,
