The Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board (MVEIRB)
announces the release of the hard copy version of its Socio-Economic
Impact Assessment (SEIA) Guidelines, a report describing the process of
evaluating social, cultural, and economic impacts in the context of
environmental assessments for the Mackenzie Valley in Canada.

SEIA is a systematic analysis that can be used to identify and evaluate
the potential social, cultural, and economic impacts of proposed
development on the lives and circumstances of people, families, and
communities. If such potential impacts are significant and adverse, SEIA
can assist the developer and other parties in finding ways to reduce,
remove, or prevent these impacts from happening. SEIA Guidelines is
structured to provide assistance to all parties during this process.
